Busy Summer Ahead!

It's hard to believe summer is just around the corner!  With that, sessions are booking fast and I only have a handful of sessions left before I am completely full for the rest of the year... yes--YEAR!  With a major wedding schedule including six destination weddings from coast to coast, my available days remaining for portraits are becoming limited.  I have begun officially booking the remainder of the summer so if you haven't heard from me yet and we've touched base before, please e-mail me again!  It's possible I may have missed you so I apologize.  I'm in the process of contacting as many of you on my waiting list as I can and hopefully we can get everything set up. Fall sessions are popular as well so if you are interested in something at that time of year NOW is a great time to contact me to see about getting on the list.  Thanks again for all of my wonderful past and present (and future) clients for spreading the word.  I can't wait to work with all of you. It's going to be a great year!

Breck

Breck was such a happy little boy, clapping and smiling and doing great in front of the camera.  It took him a little while to warm up to me at first, but once he started it was easy to capture those cute little grins!  Mom and dad had a big backyard for him to play in with the spring grass just starting to come in.  Later we even went inside for a quick game of pool!

Sylvia

We had some fantastic skies for Sylvia's session, which went well with her rubber boots and parasol!  The rain held off, too, and the air was warm so it ended up being a great time for outdoor spring pictures.  We had a lot of fun and visited the park swings and then went back to Sylvia's house for pictures in her adorable room.  Mom was also part of the photo shoot and you can really see their sweet bond--here are just a handful of my many favorites! 

Eva

Little Eva is now over a year old and walking like crazy!  Our previous session was when she was only six months!  This time we headed beyond the yard to an open grassy field that was a perfect backdrop for her outfit and straw hat!  Mom joined in and we got some great shots of the two of them.  Here are my picks!

Vayle, Three Months

Vayle is growing like a weed and this time we did a photo session just for her (and Mom, too!)  Last time Vayle was only seven days old and very sleepy.  She was sleepy this time, too, but then opened her pretty blue eyes and looked all around.  She was a little shy on her smiles and kept us working hard to try and coax one out of her, but I think we managed to get a few little grins!  At three months you just follow their lead!  Check 'em out!

Jack, One Whole Year!

Another baby to reach the milestone of "One Whole Year"!  I'm starting to think I ought to name them "One Whole Year Babies"--the little ones who have had pictures every three months with me!  I was there to capture Jack at just one week, then again at three months, six months, nine months, and now the big ONE!  Little cousin Teagan also joined in on helping him eat his birthday cake, too.  Again, I was so happy to be able to capture this little boy's first year... it was such a joy!  Here are my favorites of this now big one-year-old!

Rudy, Ruthie, Franklin and Henry

Mom and Dad, too... also, Pancho and Lefty, the family dogs, but that would have made the post title a bit too long!  I had a blast with this amazing family.  We did the session at their ranch complete with cows, horses, dogs, and even a goat!  These kids are true farm kids, and I loved how everyone was dressed in their overalls and had fun just being themselves.  We took an old pickup truck out to the pasture (I wore rubber boots!) and the kids all rode along while Dad went on his horse.   Mom wanted a special shot of Dad with his horse and dog.  They have been working the cattle for years and it was so cool to see that bond.  I could have stayed all day and taken pictures!  Again--hard to narrow down to these shots!

Grace, Emma, and Steffie

It was definitely a girls-only day with Grace, Emma, Steffie--and mom, too!  We had a fun time in the warm afternoon sun playing on the swings with the big girls and then came inside to snap more shots of baby Steffie, who eventually fell fast asleep.  Here are my favorites! 

Shelley, Roger, and Shadow

I had a fun session with Shelley and Roger and their Border Collie, Shadow.  We met up at the park where Shadow had tons of room to run around and play catch with his ball.  It was another bright, sunny, and WINDY day for our session but we made the best of it and got some great shots--and lots of action!  Shadow loved to chase that ball and I got a few of him reaching up to get at it!  And it was a neat session idea, too... who says you still can't have those fun "family" shots after the kids have grown up and gone away to college!?   

Kajsa and Quin!

I can't believe this little guy is already six months old!  He sure is growing fast.  And sister Kajsa is getting to be such a big girl.  She has such a personality and is always busy.  It was a sunny WINDY day for their session but still a lot of fun.  We did a LOT of jumping.  Kajsa jumped pretty much the whole time we were outside, as well as collecting pine cones!  Here are my favorite little snaps!

Benjamin and Hannah

I last saw Benjamin a little over a year ago.  This time, he's got a new house AND a new sister!  I was so happy to be able to capture this newest addition to this beautiful family.  We even got to go outside for awhile in the empty lot across the street--I loved the view as you'd never know we were in the city!  It's fun finding places like that where you least expect it.  Baby Hannah was such a little doll...it took awhile to get her to nod off to sleep, but once she closed her eyes it was perfect!  Here are my MANY favorites!

Izzy, One Year!

Last time I saw Izzy it was near Christmastime, and now it is Springtime!  It was also her first birthday and Mom brought out the cake for her to eat in the grass, but as soon as she saw how messy it was she realized she didn't like it very much anymore.  She really let us know about it!  Still, it was one of my favorite shots.  I love emotion!  I ended up capturing lots of smiles, though, and her pretty blue eyes were as sparkly as ever.  We ended the session with a bath--had to get all that frosting off!

Bismarck Sessions: Max and Gabriella

One last Bismarck session to share!  It was Gabriella's first birthday so she had some cake, and big brother Max got a colorful lollipop.  It was beautiful outside so we headed to the backyard to play in the sun and try out the kids patio furniture.  Summer is coming soon and I think these guys are ready for it!

Bismarck Sessions: Estella, Darian, and Oliver

It was a perfect evening for a photo session with these three busy kids plus Mom and Dad.  Sisters Estella and Darian were quick to hug and pose, while little brother Oliver had his own ideas and we had to do some chasing!  After showing me around their colorful house, we headed outside to the picturesque backyard with a view of the river.  Again, so many to choose from...here are my picks!

Bismarck Sessions: Andrew

More Bismarck sessions!  Baby Andrew was all smiles for his time in front of the camera, and he had such gorgeous blue eyes, too.  At just around two months old, he really was strong, with a little help from mom he was sitting up and holding his head quite well!  Check out my favorites of this total cutie!

Bismarck Sessions: Lexi

Little Lexi was an absolute joy to photograph.  Not only was she smiley and sweet, but just look at all her beautiful hair!  Can you believe she's only seven months old?  I had a great time taking pictures in all of the bright and pretty rooms in their house, too.  We ended the session with some fun--getting messy with sweet potatoes and then a bath in the sink.  I know I say it every time, but I seriously couldn't narrow down these shots.  There are SO many that I loved, it was hard to figure out which ones to post.  Here is my attempt!

Bismarck Sessions: Clare and Chloe

From one travel session to the next--this time to Bismarck (and Mandan), ND!  I had a GREAT time meeting all of the wonderful families.  Everyone had such beautiful children and beautiful homes.  It was also great weather, just a little windy.  My first session was with Clare and Chloe.  I even got a couple pictures taken of myself!  These girls (and Mom and Dad) were so much fun.  Here are my favorites!

Arizona Sessions: Grant and Kelli

My last session in Arizona was with none other than my wonderful hosts, Grant and Kelli.  We ended up walking to a place to eat one evening and took pictures along the way... in alleys, on the train tracks, and in empty lots.  In other words, a photographers creative dream!  I love using non-traditional backgrounds and thinking outside the box.  And of course with friends like Grant and Kelli it's hard to go wrong.  They're great subjects!  I even took a shot on our way home after dark, trying some 'light painting' with my camera to draw hearts with the streetlights.  Here are just a few of my favorite shots!

It's a real plane--we were right in the flight path and one flew over every couple minutes!

Arizona Sessions: Hayden and Parker

You may recognize little Hayden from her session with cousin Brendan about a month ago when she visited family in Minnesota.  Since Hayden and her family are actually from Arizona, they asked me to come back again and include her friend Parker, too!  We had a fun time at the playground with the kids on a beautiful morning, and even their mommies joined in on a few shots.  Then it was time to head back home where the kids enjoyed some ice cream--yum!

Arizona Sessions: The Forsythe Family!

I had a great time with the Forsythe family in their beautiful desert backyard.   I've known this great group of people for about five years, back when I was going to school in Flagstaff and roommates with one of their daughters, Kelli.  I even spent a couple holidays with them when I couldn't get home.  It is so fun to see how their family continues to grow... there are two more grandchildren on the way!
